Christmas Traditions

I don't know how we do it honestly but every year we end up lucking out with a gorgeous free day and we go down to Main Street for the Christmas Traditions celebration.  It's a cute little event, the kids seem to still enjoy and it doesn't take a whole lot of effort on our part!  We took in the parade, had some Grandma's cookies, saw the Gingerbread Houses and collected some of the trading cards.  All in a day's work.  We also had lunch/drinks at Llewelyn's so Mom and Dad were happy too!   This year the parade was a little more exciting through the eyes of Everly, she seemed to really get a kick out of it and Nolan and Bennett liked pointing out all of the different things to her.  The boys have never really been fans of parades, but this year they seemed to really enjoy it thanks to Everly.  She makes them stop and smell the roses sometimes, or in this case stop and wave to Santa.

Snow Day

We love a good snow day around here, I mean we don't want too many but we like at least one or two!  We have a decent little hill near our house that the kids like to sled on and this year even Everly got a turn.  She loved it and the boys loved taking turns with her until everyone got tired of pulling her back up the hill!  We also tried building an igloo but decided we didn't have quite the right snow for it, so decided to just throw it instead!  Kids in snow are some of my favorite pictures, and though I tried not to "bother" them too much, I did make them pose for me a time or two.  It's not all about the kids you know, oh wait is it supposed to be?  I'll get it right one of these days.

Santa Visit 2019

When you have a little one the question always becomes...will they or won't they...cry.  We had talked up Santa a LOT in our house.  We were pros at "ho ho ho", and had practiced what we wanted to ask for and everything.  And...it paid off!  Little Miss marched right up there and quickly told him "I want a house".  She meant kitchen :), but I think he understood!  She told him her wishes, sat on his lap for .2 seconds and then decided that was quite enough.  She didn't give a big smile, but she didn't get sad/mad either.  So we will call this one a win.  The big brothers of course are pros at this point.  They won't be sitting on anyone's lap, but they at least throw their Mom a bone and go up for a picture.  Not sure how long I'll be able to talk them into that but for now Mom is winning.  The boys wishes seem to be getting bigger and more expensive over the years, so let's hope they have been good enough!  Bennett asked for a Nintendo Switch and a bike (as well as a million other things) and Nolan asked for a 22.  Fingers crossed Santa provides!

Gingerbread House Fun

We have officially moved on from Fall activities and have jumped right into Winter/Christmas activities.  Today's activity...Gingerbread House Decorating.  I love this activity, though it is messy and sometimes the kids don't take my design suggestions, I still love it.  Every year I'm amazed at how long they actually spend on the house.  I mean you'll see even Everly was getting pretty serious about her creation.  Next year I think we might just graduate to a house for each of them (I know, big timing it over here!).  But I'd really like to see what they would do individually, maybe a contest?

The Last Game...for now

Well I realized I had basically gotten through all of Bennett's soccer season and hadn't taken any pictures...tragic. So I decided to change that quickly! Bennett is playing soccer with all of his little school buddies, but this year they moved to a club team...Rush.  They had a blast together, always goofing around and sometimes playing soccer!  Just kidding, they are actually pretty good.  Bennett prefers to be goalie (I think because much like his mom, he prefers not to run).  So him and his buddy Drew usually switch off at half time.  This was the last game of their season, but I joke about that because is the season really ever over?  Seems like sports don't have "seasons" anymore, they go on all year. Which is fine by us, keeps us moving...and seeing our friends.

Halloween

The night had finally come...Halloween!  I love Halloween, I don't know why really but I do.  I guess it's the costumes, I'm a sucker for kids in costumes (honestly any day of the year not just Halloween).  This year Chad and I were gone for Trunk or Treat so this is the only time I got to see the kids in their costumes which stinks.  I like to get multiple viewings each year!  But we got some pictures to prove just how cute they were.  We had Nolan Arenado (Colorado Rockies player), A black ninja guy (key seller for this costume was he didn't have to smile for the camera) and then Little Red Riding Hood.  I mean they are the cutest aren't they?  Everly hung out with Chad and I for the evening, she ventured out to a few houses and then enjoyed passing out candy at home.  The boys got a little bit of freedom this year and we gave them some boundaries with a group of kids to go down the street by themselves.  We are really growing up in this house!
