You Should Really Try This

Well, it happened again.  We got a bunch of snow, even though it's officially "Spring".  UGH.  This time I decided to spare Bennett the torture, so he got to stay peacefully inside while Nolan went outside to "help" shovel with Dad.  He was out there for a good two hours and he looked like he was FREEZING but he was not going to give in until Dad did.  Quite the trooper if you ask me, we've all seen his snow clothes…or lack thereof.  Not only did Bennett stay inside this time, but I did as well.  I mean someone had to supervise his nap am I right?  I missed out on the snow, but I caught up with Nolan over hot chocolate.  He was in a super silly mood and P-U-M-P-E-D that he got to use Dad's cool mug.  He kept saying stuff like "Hmm, this is pretty good yep yep pretty good"  "Mom, you should really try this" "this is goooooooooood stuff, I like it I really really like it".  If only I could get this reaction out of green beans.  Perhaps I should hide them in Hot Chocolate next time.

What We're Up to

Not a whole lot going on these days.  We're cold, and bored, and cranky, and bored…did I mentioned bored?  I am so ready for Spring it is not even funny.  I'm ready to open up the back door and shove escort the kids out.  We caught a SMALL glimpse of Spring last Friday and it was G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S!  Yet this week we were back to freezing temperatures and boredom.  But in case you were wondering what we were up to even if it is boring, here you go (instagram style)…

 1.  We're soaking up the sun…when we can.
2.  We're sitting in Time Out…often.
3.  We're getting ready for our first soccer game.
4.  We're taking on projects that we probably shouldn't.
5.  We're building anything we can get our hands on…legos, marble contraptions and forts.
6.  We're celebrating Chad's birthday.
7.  We're having fun Friday dates…at the mall.
8.  We're wrestling in the Dr's office…though I told the Dr we were break dancing.  You pick.

Hey Jude...

This past weekend we had a little "sprinkle" for our friend Amanda and Baby Jude.  We decided to go with a little bit of a music theme as Jude's parents think that they have amazing taste in music.  They don't really approve of my "90's on 9" selection, but I'll forgive them (though Flavor Flav may not).  I mean they are naming their kid after the greatest Beatles song ever, that is extreme music commitment right there.  Okay, maybe the name has nothing to do with the song whatsoever but I'm sure acting like it does!  A little peak at the shower for your viewing pleasure...

Um, like I said I may or may not be taking this whole "Hey Jude" thing too far.  This is the onesie I got for the little guy with the notes to "Hey Jude" on it.  I mean whether he was named after the song or not that's totes adorbs for newborn pictures, can I get an Amen?

Julia was the present writer downer.  Amanda wasn't so sure about her taking on this role, but I think she handled it just fine.  I did have the urge to keep saying "write that down".  If you've never seen Van Wilder and have no idea what I'm talking about that's a shame and you should immediately rent the movie.  Unless you're a small child and reading this, and in that case forget I ever said anything about Van Wilder…ever.

But here is the present Amanda is probably most excited about…"Mommy's Time Out".  Well either this or the Target gift card that she got that she's claiming for her own wardrobe.  BUSTED!

Bennett's Fall Guy

I think I have finally figured out why Bennett loves Cooper so much.  He has figured out that no matter what he does wrong Cooper will probably be doing something equally as terrible and inevitably will be the one that gets in trouble.  For instance in the below pictures, Cooper is on our bed which is a "no no" (in chad's book) so when Chad sees these pictures Cooper will totally get in trouble (or I will) but Bennett will get off scott free from his little temper tantrum which included spiking that nice little green cup he is holding on the floor.  Genius, this kid is a genius.  Keep your friends close and your "fall guys" closer, that's Bennett's motto.

Yep, looking for that cup.  Good luck Bennett, something tells me the photographer stole it and will not be returning it until you can be a more responsible sippy cup owner.  So basically…never.

Santa's Helper

The other day Nolan and I were sitting at the counter playing with his Lego guys and all of the sudden he starts this conversation:

Nolan: You know Mom, Easter isn't all about candy and toys and finding eggs.
Me:  Oh it's not?  What is it about?
Nolan:  It's about Jesus dying on the cross for us.  And then he rose from the dead and went to heaven to watch over us so we will be good.  Then he can tell Santa.

I mean he got most of it right?  Now before you think that Nolan is a complete angel, let me tell you this was shortly followed up with "I just farted."  Because these days we have to announce any bodily function that transpires.  Ah, being a mother of boys is such a joy!

With all of these angel like comments that Nolan has been making lately I decided it was high time for him and I to escape for a little donut date. (Did I mention he told me I looked pretty as I was leaving for dinner the other night?)  He makes my heart happy, and donuts make his heart happy so it's a win/win.  In case you were wondering, yes we brought some donut goodness back for the boys at home...I mean Jesus is watching after all.

Sweet Boy

A little conversation I had with Nolan the other day as I picked him up from school…

Nolan:  Bennett is going to be two and then I'll be five.
Me:  That's right, but I'll be sad when you are five.
Nolan:  Why?
Me:  Because that means you're getting so old.
Nolan:  But I'll always be your baby boy Mom (insert puppy dog eyes looking up at me)

Beat that people, I dare you.

A little picture of my Baby Boy, just as sweet then as he is now (at least today).

Happy Anniversary

Don't worry, I'm not gonna get all sappy on you guys.
I'll save that for Facebook.
Oh wait, Chad's not on Facebook.
I guess I'll just save it.

Happy Anniversary Chad!
8 years but it seems like just yesterday...

Oh yes, and I'm dragging the wedding party down with me...

Confession

I have a confession.  I have a new obsession.  I want to say it's only a small obsession and I think it's only a phase that I will soon get over…hopefully.  It's something that all the kids are doing these days, but quite honestly I'm a little late to the party so most kids are probably over it by now.  It's a little thing called Instagram.  Instagram is basically Facebook but it is only pictures and only pictures taken with your phone.  For a girl that constantly has a huge camera attached to her hip, the idea of taking all of my pictures with my phone 1. scares me and 2. excites me.  It's kind of fun, and I gave it a whirl all weekend to get my picture taking fix.  So here I am to share my Instagram documentation of our weekend.  I don't know that I'm ready to throw in the towel with my DSLR just yet, but I can't lie taking pictures with my phone is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more convenient so I might substitute with it every now and then so bare with me and my not so perfect pictures!

Friday we had my nephew Reid over to play and spend the night...

Saturday we had a little adult fun to celebrate our anniversary.
Year 8 the gift apparently is…Shots?

And we rounded out the weekend on Sunday with a little family fun at Kokomo Joe's.
