First Losers

Well it happened yet again, we came in second place at Scally Olympics.  I think next year I might bring a trophy for second place because chances are that is what we will be going home with.  Anyway this year was much better in my opinion because there were not as many "miracles" being cooked so there was a lot more "socializing".  It was hot, but that didn't keep this crew down.

Where to begin, where to begin…well below is Amanda with a gun.  Can you tell she LOVES guns?  And Jessie with the trophy, that she literally would NOT give up.  No seriously, I went to take it from her to take a picture of the names on the trophy and she snapped at me that it was still hers.  Unfortunately she turned out to be right, as the Lords got to take home the trophy again this year!  Don't even get me started, none of us understand!!!

There were a few surprises this year.  The Barbagallos won the skeet shoot.  Acutally it's just a surprise that the Barbagallos won any event!  So we surely had to document that with a picture.

Actually we better document that with a video for a little proof…

These lovely ladies decided to canoe back to the other side after the gun events.

Another group of canoers weren't as lucky on their way back…

In another strange turn of events Steve decided to do the Chug N Swim this year, an event he usually makes his bride swim.  And look at that…he didn't drown!

The Scally Olympics always brings out the best in the "cheaters".  I heard something about a golf score being skewed, there were some hatchet throws that were questionable, someone left a beer in the lake during the chug n swim...

Cheating or not, it was an awesome time and here were the official results.  We'll get em next year! Maybe when my husband can learn how to hold up his end of the deal during the skeet shoot (thats right, please note that I shot just as many birds as my manly man did).

Bubbles Bubbles Bubbles

Well Bennett's girlfriend Violet had her actual birthday party the other weekend.  It was a Bubble themed party inclusive of a cake with huge sugar bubbles on it.  Kids dream?  Yep I think so.  She is so so so cute, even with blue icing all over her little face.  Gosh I can't wait until she's my daughter in law ;)

After the mess came the clean up…

And my goodness doesn't she clean up nicely….

Snip Snip

Mr. B has had crazy hair from the get go.  It started out super spikey and then it seemed to calm down for a bit but then it just kept growing and growing and growing.  Which meant I just had a kid with ridiculously long thin hair.  While I enjoy a good mullett sighting now and again, I didn't so much love it on my little baby.  For some reason I had it in my head that I couldn't cut his hair until after his first birthday, but rules are meant to be broken I guess.  His luscious locks met the scissors tonight.  Baby B looks a lot less like a baby :(  But…he's still super adorable so life will go on.  The experience went a lot better than I had imagined.  He's still an active little thing and I am sincerely amazed by the hairdresser's ability to work around this wiggle worm (though he did end up in a headlock more than once!).  All in all though he did a great job and almost seemed to enjoy it.

Look Who I Met!!!

Ahhh, it took way too long for me to get my grubby little hands on this guy but it finally happened.  I met my nephew!!  Oh and is he precious, and you know what's better...he LOVES me.  All smiles for his Aunt Darci that's fo sho.

Can't wait to see him again, and Bennett can't wait to hug him like he does with all the other babies (and by hug I actually mean clobber).

Yikes

Well a few posts back I might have mentioned a little bachelorette party that I attended.  WOW, this girl is not 21 anymore.  I mean seriously when did I surpass that milestone by a whole decade?  Sad, sad, sad.  Apparently I left my tolerance in that last decade as well.

It started out calm…

But then something happened.  Maybe it was the Jager Bombs?  Why do I look like I'm the only one really enjoying that delicious beverage while everyone else looks almost tortured?  Rookies.

I want to give a big shout out to whoever took all these wonderful pictures for me.  I woke up the next morning with a plethora of "interesting" shots on my camera!  Can't wait for the wedding ;)

Slushie

It never fails, every time I have a session that involves a young child there is always a bribe involved.  If you stand here we can get a hot wheel, if you smile now we can watch a movie when we get home, if you stand on your head and act like you like it you can have a friend spend the night.  It's always something.  Well for this little fellow it was the promise of a delicious slushie on a VERY VERY VERY hot evening.  And you know what?  This kid earned like 1 million slushies in my book.  Evan has more personality in his little finger then most grownups have in their entire bodies.  As we were wrapping up the session this was our conversation:

Evan:  How old are your boys?
Me:  3 and 10 months
Evan: And what are their names?
Me:  Nolan and Bennett
Evan:  Well, when you get home you tell them that you met Evan.  Oh, and when it's my birthday you should come to my party.

Mr. Evan let me just tell you I will be anxiously awaiting your invitation!

Meet the Hall Family….I went to High School with Barbie but haven't seen her in years.  Unfortunately she's one of "those" people that hasn't changed a bit.  ARGH.  Her family is just as sweet as they are cute, you will want to jump through the computer screen and pinch Whitney's little cheeks she's so stinkin' cute!  Enjoy!

Those are all fine and dandy but I'm fairly certain this is the picture that Barbie will be hanging over the fireplace…yes?

Jerk

Well if you didn't notice "Skipping Rocks" has been on vacation.  We took a little trip with Chad's family to the Lake and it was pretty spectacular.  I think Nolan will more than likely sleep for the next 3 weeks straight out of sheer tiredness (enter smiley face here).  Anyway, first day of vacation and here is the start of the Nolan stories…

Me:  Nolan, why don't you go to the bathroom before we get in the lake.
Nolan:  Why?
Me:  Because it's no fun to come back up to go potty after we are all wet.
Chad:  I just pee in the lake.
Nolan:  Why do you pee in the lake Dad?  Because you are a Jerk?

Whoops…maybe I use the term "jerk" too often when referring to my loving husband.  Note taken Nolan, note taken.

Note:  I had a glorious picture of my adorable nephew Reid peeing off the side of the dock into the lake for this blog post.  Don't worry I promptly put a little something over his "potty parts" as to not offend anyone.  However, Chad yelled at me and told me I couldn't put that on the blog.  Something about child pornography…he really is a jerk sometimes.

When Mom's Away...

The Boys will Play!
I had a little Bachelorette Party to attend this weekend (pictures of that later...maybe) so Chad flew solo to a birthday party with the boys.
Apparently they had a good old time and these are some pictures to prove it
(Thanks Jessie for the pictures...Bennett apologizes for clobbering Connor...again)

See he isn't ALWAYS mean to other babies...

Nolan's turn to cause a disturbance...

So basically my children were "those children" at the birthday party that were causing all sorts of problems and beating up other kids. I guess Chad can't handle them without me...or MAYBE he just needs more practice with them alone?? Yep definitely the later, who needs a night out so Chad can "practice".

Video Dump

I guess I was a little video camera happy this weekend and caught a few of Bennett's "tricks" on camera.
Nothing earth shattering here, but I think he's pretty amazing…and cute :)

Baby B's Room

Right before we moved out of the house (and by that I mean 2 minutes before Chad took down the crib) I realized I had never taken pictures of Bennett's room.  Boy would I have been MAD if I would have never had pictures of his first room, thank goodness I always have the camera close by!
So here it was in all it's glory…

Perhaps his room will inspire him to become a pilot…
