One Day

One Day I will look outside and I won't see kids running around squealing and playing tag.

One Day I will look outside and I won't see superheroes fighting off all of the bad guys.

One Day I will look outside and I won't even see a swing set in our backyard.

But Today, Today I saw all of this.  And Today was a great day.

**and by "today" I actually mean about 2 weeks ago because I own two of these children and I'm busy damnit

Easter Morning

This Easter was a little different than years past.  We did wake up to find that we had in fact had a visit from the Big Bunny and then we did enjoy some "special eggs" (a little family tradition on special occasions involving Jesus).  And then...my kids left me for a week!  It was Nolan's Spring Break and we had plans for him to go home with my Mom and Dad for a special week alone with Grandma and Grandpa, that is until little brother caught wind of this plan and inserted himself just nicely into Grandma and Grandpa's car!  So anyway, our Easter celebration with the kiddos was cut short but Chad and I carried on with traditions and went over to visit his family sans kiddos.  Turns out that going to family functions without your kids is pretty relaxing when you aren't constantly worried about what your child could be breaking at the home of the poor person stuck hosting said family function.

Anyway, here are the few pictures I took on Easter morning.  Nothing too special, I never even put the boys in their "Easter Outfits" this year.  In FACT, being the "thrifty" little shopper that I am I actually returned those suckers.  I know I know, Chad was shocked too!  Don't worry, I think I replaced those Easter outfits with something lovely for myself.  Happy Easter to me!

Easter Egg Decorating

This Easter we were lucky enough to have both my parents and my brother and his family in town for the weekend. So for that reason we held off on our Egg Decorating traditions until they got in town. Turns out my nephew was none too impressed with this activity, that or he was just more impressed with the toy room upstairs!  The adults, however,  had their fair share of fun.  Always a competition with these people.  Anyway, we ended up with some BEAUTIFUL eggs and some colorful fingers.  The perfect start to my favorite holiday!

Happy Anniversary?

Well this year for our anniversary we decided to go on a hike with the kids and the Barbagallos.  I know I know, hopeless romantics in this house!  In case you are worried we also went out to a wonderful dinner that night, but of course I have no pictures to document that so you are stuck with us in grungy clothes and kids skipping rocks.  I assure you that you are getting the better end of this deal. We had a great little hike with minimal "my legs are tired" moments, so we are calling this a win.  The boys are really starting to appreciate the little "adventures' in life and I hope to have many many more days like this in the future.

Grand Cayman

This year we were lucky enough to go on a trip with Chad's company to Grand Cayman.  I know I know...rough life.  Let me tell you, Grand Cayman was nothing short of amazing!  I absolutely love love loved it.  We had a little bit of adventure and a little bit of relaxation, the perfect combination in my book.

On the first day I took a paddle board out for the first time.  I was getting pretty cocky about it too quite frankly thinking people always made it out to be "so difficult" and it was not really difficult at all.  I mean I was so "good" I decided I would be in charge of the Go Pro for the group too.  And I was good...until I wasn't.  I took about the most ungraceful fall into the water possible and I even lost my sunglasses in the process.  For what it's worth, I still think I was pretty good :)!

Day 2 We decided to make our own little pub crawl around the city.  We walked for what seemed like forever, but as long as I got a new drink every few hundred feet (and a souvenir or two) I was happy.

Day 3 we rented a private catamaran with some co-workers of Chad's.  This was THE BEST DAY ever.  We had a great crew, great company, perfect weather and smooth sailing.  We went to Stingray City and got to swim with the stingrays, we did a little snorkeling at a coral reef, we went to Starfish Point to find a few starfish, went to rum point for a delicious Mudslide and then sailed back as we watched the sunset.  I mean is that real life?  It certainly is not what I am accustomed too, but I certainly could get used to it!!

On our last full day in Grand Cayman Chad and I got resort certified to go Scuba Diving.  We were the only ones who signed up for that day so we basically got a private tour and got to go on two dives that day.  It was so so so great.  We had gone scuba diving once before about 10 years ago and I loved  it and didn't think twice about the "risks".  This time I was a little bit more shall we say apprehensive?  It took a little encouragement from the deckhand to get me to jump off the front of the boat but I am so glad that I did!  We saw some great sea life , inclusive of a huge neon green eel and an old spanish anchor.  An amazing adventure to end a great trip.
